"Death is not just about mourning, it's about grief. Just to give it an extra level of despair. I think our current times call for that." - Mary Plaster

This exhibition, curated by painter, social practice artist, and puppet designer Mary Plaster for the Duluth Art Institute, featured works grappling with death and the human condition.

Body Tempest was installed in a select area of the Steffl Gallery. The installation carefully documents Levi Nies removing all of his hair in the light of a decrepit attic after having just undergone chemotherapy for a cancer that would eventually take his life. It presents moments both triumphant and horrific when dealing with the possibility of demise and the ability to make meaning during whatever time we possess.
