Moving Image Work
Candle & The Bell performances involved 16mm and Super 8mm film projections with improvised sound-scapes generated live. They were temporal evocations which questioned the sanctity of corrupt power structures while contemplating other modes or ways of constructing culture in the world. The performances featured found footage manipulated live, along with live film scores and soundscapes generated on site in collaboration with the projected imagery. The work drew upon the idea of détournement as developed by the Situationist art movement. Détournement is defined as the integration of present or past artistic productions into the construction of a new milieu.
